New Beginnings! Embracing Perimenopause…

I have been making some shifts in my business recently and I am really excited to tell you about them and share it with others because it is such an important topic

For 25 years I have been training people to get stronger,  leaner and eat better and I have loved every minute of it!  I work with the best people ever.  

The thing is, I’ve realized that I have been speaking fitness to everyone (quite frankly because I truly believe that everyone needs it.) BUT the problem with this is that I feel there is one specific group of people that is really struggling and my heart is to narrow down a bit and really hone in on their specific needs, struggles and desires…

Today I am going to reveal who that group is!

Ready For Something New?

I have decided that I really have a passion to focus in and help peri and menopausal women.

You see, when I was 35ish I had this weird rush of women coming into my training office over a short period of time.  These women all ranged between 41-43 and were struggling with the very same things.  “Suddenly I have this fat showing up in places that I have never had fat before and it’s not going away.  None of the old things are working anymore.  What is going on?”

Well, to be honest, I didn’t exactly know what was going on at the time.  I helped them the best I knew how by giving  them all the tips and tricks and science and sent them on their way.  (I did however take note to be very afraid of age 41!  )

After I’d had this same conversation many times I began to do my own digging and realized that this was peri-menopause talking.

At about 37 years old I became determined to figure out how to get myself and my clients through window of transition in the most graceful way possible.

I joined several peri/menopause groups on Facebook, read books, took courses & certifications, asked TONS of questions and experimented with my own body to learn all that I could before I hit this window for myself.  I was determined to be ready!

I had no idea then what I know now…at 46 years old.  Do you feel me?  The same old things don’t work.  I am so glad I started researching this back then!

One thing that I did notice in this process is that so many women just seemed to be having a terrible time with all the hormone shifts.  To be honest, their attitudes had become so sour and negative.  This scared me a little bit.

We have worked too hard taking care of all the little people and the husbands to throw in the towel and let hormones take over.  These should be the years we get to reap the benefits of our hard work…Not to get raked over the coals!

The more I dug in the more I realized that peri/menopause doesn’t have to ruin our lives.

Now this isn’t to say that all you need is a little positive thinking and it will all be a  walk in the park but what I am saying is that if we know we are headed into a difficult time (as pointed out by so many other women that have gone before us)  why not take care of our bodies now.  Why not learn how to make it easier NOW.  Why not create mindset shifts about or nutrition, fitness and lifestyle NOW.

If I can teach women how to march into the perimenopausal years with an awesome toolbox of how to eat, exercise, relax and take care of themselves NOW, how much easier will this transition be for them (and their families)?  The answer is, TONS easier.

Peri-menopause can be as long as 10 years for some women.  While you might look at the words “10 years” and freak out a little…Think about it like this:  We have time to get this figured out!

By making changes and shifts now, learning how the body works and becoming aware of habits and mindsets that are causing issues now, we will be so far ahead of the game when changes started happening.

Menopausal Mindshift

I am on a mission to help perimenopausal and menopausal women to ROCK THE CHANGE, embrace the journey and dare I say, even feel sexy through it !

This is our time to shine, not shrink back and let the negativity take over.  Our bodies have served us in amazing ways YEARS (beach trips in our teens and twenties, babies in our twenties and thirties, careers, travels and surviving teens in our forties…) and now is the time to pour back into ourselves and learn how to take care of it so it will continue to take care of us.

I want to teach women to look forward to his time and any challenges that may come our way with hope and anticipation and to arm them with the tools and skills they need to stay fit, healthy and vibrant!

We have totally EARNED this!
